Who is eligible to be considered for the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association Hall of Fame?
Nominees1 to be considered for the Hall of Fame must have been a member of South Florida Amateur Athletic Association/South Florida Softball League for at least five (5) years2 as either a player, coach, manager, scorekeeper, and/or umpire. Nominees should have made a positive contribution to the league’s development and the facilitation of its sportsmanship and camaraderie. Nominee must also be in good standing with the league and North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance governing body. Nominees may also include those currently not participating in the current season, those who have moved away from the region, and those who have also passed away. Effective 2009, time eligibility will increase to seven (7) years.
Top-of-page When are nominations considered? Nominations will be accepted by the committee once a year during the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance World Series qualifying season, usually the spring season. Top-of-page
Who may nominate someone?
Any member of the league in good standing in the current season can nominate a candidate for the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Top-of-page
Where can I get a nomination form? Nomination forms can be obtained online by clicking here, or directly from either the current South Florida Amateur Athletic Association league secretary or current Hall of Fame Chairman. Top-of-page
What do I do once I have completed the form? Once completed, nomination forms and resumes are to be mailed to the Hall of Fame Chairperson at the address stated on the application form Top-of-page
Do I need anything else besides the application form? Materials which support the nominee’s application may be included with the nomination form but are not required. All submitted materials become property of the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association Hall of Fame Committee. What happens after the application is submitted
Copies of each nominee’s application sheet, resume, and any accompanying support materials will be sent via the U.S. Postal Service to each current member of the Hall of Fame for review. Top-of-page
Who votes on each nomination?
All current members of the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association Hall of Fame still living are granted a right to vote on each application and requested to approve each candidate. Top-of-page
How is the voting coordinated?
Official ballots will be sanctioned by the signature of the current South Florida Amateur Athletic Association League Secretary and Hall of Fame Chairperson. All Hall of Fame members will be asked to return marked ballots in a separate sealed envelope via the U. S. Postal Service to the Hall of Fame Chairperson. For validation purposes, all ballot envelopes will remain sealed until the official tabulation in front of the League Secretary. A meeting will convene at which time the current Hall of Fame Chairperson and the current South Florida Amateur Athletic AssociationA League Secretary will verify and tabulate the ballots received. How many votes are needed for a nominee to be allowed in the Hall of Fame?
Nominees who receive 2/3rd of the current Hall of Fame members’ returned ballots will be inducted into the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Top-of-page
What happens after the votes are tabulated?
Those nominees who gain the necessary amount of votes will be notified by the Hall of Fame Chairperson that they have been accepted into the Hall of Fame. Top-of-page
What happens to applications of nominees who did not garner enough votes?
Nominations of anyone who fails to garner enough votes will be reconsidered for two more years after initial year of nomination. Top-of-page
When are those who are approved inducted?
An induction ceremony to honor the current class of inductees will occur at a league function, usually the end of the season banquet. Each inductee will be introduced by a speaker of their choice and will be permitted to give a short acceptance speech. Top-of-page
Is it true that only friends of the committee get in?
While many of the members of the Hall of Fame have naturally developed friendships over the years, everything associated with the process has been designed with the utmost integrity at the core of its nature. Anyone is allowed to nominate and be nominated. Committee members are reminded of their need to be objective during the review process. Top-of-page
Is the voting process tainted in anyway?
Tabulation is done only after sealed envelopes have been opened in front of the league secretary to assure their validity. No exceptions are made to this process in an effort to preserve the authenticity and accuracy of the tally.

Who are honorary members?
Honorary members are those individuals who have assisted greatly in the development of the league, but have not participated on the field of play in any way. They are nominated only by the Hall of Fame Committee members for this recognition but suggestions are encouraged. Top-of-page
